Welcome to My Blog/ 初回ブログ

Hello and welcome to my personal website! I’m Koichiro Shigaki, and this is a space where I share my insights, experiences, and the many passions that drive my professional and personal life.

Born in Kumamoto Prefecture and having spent part of my childhood in Puerto Rico, I’ve been fortunate to experience a blend of cultures and education systems. I have also studied at a college and University in the U.S. & Japan. This unique background has shaped my perspective and approach in my field.

After receiving my education in broadcasting and electronic communication arts in the U.S. and completing my Ph.D. in Japan, I have immersed myself in the world of media, academia, and communication field. Currently, as an Associate Professor, my focus lies in media industry history, media theory, American studies, journalism, and related fields. I am also teaching ESL/language learning to a student in Japan.

Through this blog, I aim to share valuable insights from my academic research, my experiences in different cultures, and my thoughts on various aspects of media and communication. Occasionally, I may post my thought on things happens in my private life, problems in Japanese university system, Japanese government policy making on education, Generative AI with language teaching and its potential.

Whether you’re a student, a fellow academic, or just someone curious about these topics, I hope you find something here that resonates with you. It’s free…(though quite honestly, I do not deny that I was trying to get a little money for writing…)

Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to sharing and connecting with you!
